So, you have vetted your app idea and have conducted the proper market research (niche and competitor research). Now it is time to execute your idea by recruiting an iOS developer/agency. Perhaps you already hired an iOS developer. Did you use an app project analysis service? Are you having trouble trusting the team or sole iOS developer that you hired for the job? Did you also hire out the graphics by the same agency/developer? I can tell you from experience that you have to be very cautious in who you hire for your first project.
Once you get the hang of how things work, the process will go more smoothly on your next project. Frequently iOS development projects do not go as planned. It is the norm for your first project to take longer than expected. You may need an app project analysis service in order to reevaluate your project and give it an outside expert set of eyes.
To summarize there is a whole lot that can go wrong! There are a few problems that come to mind that occur more often than you might think. Firstly, when you start on your project you will have some deadline in mind. Yet, many freelancers and iOS development agencies take on as many projects as possible. This causes them to work slowly. Also, these same types of iOS developers will not be good communicators. Typically, the iOS developers that are overloaded are usually agencies. Most agencies simply take on as much work as possible causing workflow issues.
What happens in the end with this fast-food-style development strategy is that you will have a lot of headaches dealing with this type of agency. They will take too long to respond to you and their development reports will not be on time. Generally, all milestones will be late. Or, with this type of agency, they will be on time. But the app will be coded quickly, and the app will be over reliant on 3rd party frameworks and libraries (which will cause a lot of problems later with every new iOS).
My guess is that you may be having some of the same problems that I mentioned above? You have to be slow to hire and quick to fire in this business. In fact, for my first project I spent one month researching, and looking for the right iOS developer for the job. Even so, I still had some issues and misunderstandings with the agency I hired. I wish I had had someone more experienced to consult with at the time. The final product still works with iOS 12 but I have had other codes that do not even work anymore. This is because the coders that built these apps did not build the code with iOS updates in mind.
When a coder starts on your project they will tend to take shortcuts if they are a bad fit. Thus, not only will you have problems with such coders being late, or with bad communication. But you will also have problems much later on. For example, code that is overly reliant on 3rd party libraries and frameworks. Or code that tends to take shortcuts, code that was put together sloppily) can cause you big problems later. At times, such codes must be rebuilt from scratch in the future. Thus, it is imperative that you recruit the right iOS developer for your project.
